Our network of clubs and their learn-by-doing program are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader. Why pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join a Toastmasters club for a fraction of the cost and have fun in the process?
What’s in it for you?
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills.
Toastmasters is a program that helps its members to improve their skills and understanding in the following areas:
• Public Speaking
• Leadership
• Communication
• Understanding and Learning Effective Organizational Dynamics
How does it work?
With weekly meetings, through a series of public speaking projects and leadership projects, both public speaking and leadership skills can be improved and mastered within an environment that is supportive and nurturing.
Each club meeting provides an opportunity to master four types of Communication skills: formal speeches, impromptu speeches, evaluations, and running/overseeing a meeting.
This is a hands-on program. You learn by doing speeches. When you work on your speaking projects, you are developing self-discipline and commitment. Leadership skills can be worked on three levels, as a club member, as a club officer, and as a district officer. Leadership is also about setting an example that others want to voluntarily follow. When we see your self-esteem grow and develop, that is what we hope to see in all of our members.
In the process of developing these skills, you sharpen your thinking and writing skills. To present an effective speech, you need to think about which topics to cover, to think clearly about what you want to say, and to think of ways that is easy for your audience to understand. Clear thinking is essential to writing and presenting outstanding speeches.
A polished speech requires a number of specific skills. It includes good vocal variety, appropriate sentence structure (shorter sentences are better), eye contact with the audience, projecting clearly your voice so that everyone can hear you, and an opening and closing that captures the audience’s attention. Effective use of props will enhance your message.
Learning how to give feedback so that the person is able to take your suggestions and improve their speeches using a positive emotional tone is actually an important skill for would-be and current supervisors and managers to learn and master. With practice, these skills improve.
Leadership requires effective and clear communication as well. One cannot make the assumption, that everyone in the audience understands what you want to communicate. Leadership requires commitment to personal growth and development.
Organizations that are effective and are able to accomplish their mission, goals, and objectives have positive values. The most important ones are respect, integrity, and striving for excellence. They are also toastmaster values.
We have a very diverse group of members. We take an interest in every member who wants to achieve success in their personal goals and objectives.

We believe that participating actively in a Toastmasters program is the best investment you can make for your personal and professional growth.
Everyone in a Toastmasters club was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you’ll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech; an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your skill.
You won’t regret it. Toastmasters has more than 200,000 members in 80 countries. Our club is just one of the more than 10,000 clubs located around the world. For membership meeting information, please see our membership information page.
